Reality Check

I want to be straightforward about something because I think the AI conversation needs more transparency.

AI is not magic. It's not all 10x productivity. Some of it is genuinely hard.

There are days when an agent gives me an output so off-brief I want to throw my laptop. Days when I'm explaining context for the third time and wondering if I should have just done it myself. Days when a tool that was working perfectly suddenly isn't, and I lose two hours troubleshooting instead of building.

There are also days when something I thought would take a week takes an afternoon. When an idea I struggled to articulate alone gets surfaced through dialogue with agents. When a piece of work feels genuinely collaborative in a way I didn't expect from technology.

Both are true. The frustration is real. The leverage is real. The breakthrough moments are real. The "why is this not working" moments are real.

What I've learned is that the people getting the most from AI right now aren't the most technical. They're the most patient. The most curious. The most willing to keep going through the rough bits to find the great bits underneath.

If you're finding it harder than the LinkedIn highlight reels suggest — you're not behind. That's just the reality.
